Fungi in Antarctica
Fungi have been studied very little. Several mushrooms have been found on the West coast of the Antarctica Peninsula and on the South Shetland Islands (a group of about 100 islands). A few of the fungi found in Antarctica are unique to the continent, however, the majority are also found in mild-temperature areas.
Many plants live in Antarctica but there aren’t many species left, which is why plants in Antarctica are the most special plants in the world.
