In Antarctica, it is important that you wear warm and appropriate clothing or you might freeze to death. The clothing has many different parts, such as: The outer layer, mid insulation layer, base core layer and even accessories.
Base Core: The base core should be soft and next to your skin, it also has to be comfortable and able to make you feel dry. Damp clothing in the cold can reduce insulation significantly, so it’s important to keep sweat away from your skin and clothes. The material it is made from is called synthetic material, so it can make your clothes smell nice. The base core include: Insulated base layer tops and Long johns.
Mid Insulation Layer: It depends on how cold the weather is to figure out how much mid insulation layers you should wear. The mid insulation layers include: Fleece, Down and Pants. The mid insulation layers help you move around really quickly. Wind willyou extra air because the air gets trapped in your clothes, which is why woollen sweaters and natural fiber pants are usually worn.
Shell Layer: The shell layer is so that wind and water doesn’t get into your clothes. They are one of the most important parts within the clothes and have some features such as draw-cords, hoods and’ fasten able cuffs’ to prevent warm air being lost to the outside and snow from finding its way into unwanted areas. The shell layer includes: Polar parka, Gore-Tex, 3-in-1 Jackets, Waterproof rain pants and Down or synthetic insulated pants.
Accessories: Accessories are used to keep you extra warm because the layers might not be enough. Accessories include: Gloves, hats, socks, boots and goggles.
